Steps
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the large egg yolk with the Wilton red icing color until vibrant; set aside.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thick and cut out six hand shapes.
- Apply the egg yolk mixture to the fingertips of the hand shapes.
- Bake the Crawling Hands for about 15 minutes until golden brown; let cool on a wire rack.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat; stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes.
- Whisk in chicken broth and cook until thickened into a creamy filling.
- Add mixed vegetables and shredded chicken; simmer for 4 minutes.
- Pour filling into baking dishes and top with Crawling Hands in a playful arrangement.
