Step-by-Step Instructions for Doritos Casserole Recipe
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet, add a splash of oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground beef and diced onion, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until the beef is browned and onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, allowing the mixture to simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Add the salsa verde, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream to the beef mixture. Stir until well combined.
  5. Sprinkle in the shredded cheddar cheese and stir until it melts completely.
  6. In a greased 9x13 inch casserole dish, lightly crush one-third of the Doritos to create a base layer. Spoon half of the beef mixture over the Doritos.
  7. Add another one-third of the crushed Doritos on top of the beef mixture, followed by the remaining beef mixture, and finish with another layer of the last third of Doritos and top with Colby Jack cheese.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
