Ingredients

For the Muffin Batter
  • 2-3 pieces Ripe Bananas Ensure bananas are very ripe for maximum sweetness and moisture.
  • 1/3 cup Melted Butter Use unsalted butter for better control over the saltiness.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda A fresh leavening agent helps the muffins rise perfectly.
  • 1 pinch Salt Just a pinch to enhance the sweetness.
  • 3/4 cup Sugar Regular sugar works, but brown sugar adds deeper flavor.
  • 1 large Egg Binds the ingredients; try a flax egg for a vegan alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Use pure vanilla for best flavor.
  • 1.5 cups All-Purpose Flour Provides structure; substitute with gluten-free flour if needed.
For the Nutella Swirl
  • 1 cup Nutella Warm slightly if firm for easier swirling.

Equipment

  • Muffin tin
  • Mixing Bowl
  • fork
  • Spatula
  • Oven

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a muffin tin by lining it with paper liners or lightly greasing with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash 2-3 ripe bananas until smooth; a few lumps are okay for added texture. Mix in 1/3 cup of melted unsalted butter until well combined.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda, a pinch of salt, 3/4 cup of sugar, one beaten large egg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until everything is smoothly blended.
  4. Carefully fold in 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour using a spatula, stopping as soon as you can no longer see dry flour.
  5. Spoon half of the muffin batter into the prepared muffin tin cups, filling each about halfway. Create a small well in the center of each cup and add about a teaspoon of Nutella for each muffin.
  6. Cover each well with the remaining muffin batter, filling to about two-thirds full. Gently swirl the Nutella into the top layer of batter.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes until risen and golden brown. Test for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Let the muffins sit for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
