Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, water or apple juice, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, then add sliced apples and cook until just tender.
- Pour the cooked apple mixture into your greased baking pan, spreading evenly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, white sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir in milk and melted butter.
- Spread the biscuit topping over the apple filling and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
- Bake for 38-40 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 15 minutes before serving warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.
