Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast. Let sit for 8-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add 1 beaten egg, 3 cups of all-purpose flour, and 1 teaspoon of salt to the yeast mixture. Blend on low speed until combined.
  3. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-6 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 60-90 minutes.
  5. Mix together 4 tablespoons of softened butter, 3-4 cloves of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick, spread 2/3 of garlic butter, sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan, then roll it into a log.
  7. Slice into 8 pieces and place in a greased baking pan, cover, and let rise for 25-35 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F about 10 minutes before the second rise ends.
  9. Brush tops with an egg wash and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Brush with remaining garlic butter after baking and serve warm.
