Step-by-Step Instructions
- Gently heat 1 cup of whole milk until it reaches 105°F. Remove from heat, sprinkle in 2 ¼ teaspoons of yeast, and stir. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together ½ cup of melted unsalted butter and 1 large egg until well combined. Fold in the yeast mixture.
- In a stand mixer, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix on low speed.
- Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients while mixing. Knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 45 minutes to 1 hour until doubled in size.
- After rising, punch down the dough and divide into 10 pieces, shaping each into a ball. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Brush the tops of the buns with egg wash and optionally sprinkle sesame seeds before baking.
- Bake the buns in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes
For best results, prepare the dough the night before and let it rise in the fridge. Cool completely before slicing to prevent sogginess.
