Ingredients
  

For the Beef Filling
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or ground lamb, chicken, or turkey
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil for sautéing
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin for flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika smoked for deeper flavor
  • to taste Salt to elevate flavor
  • to taste Black Pepper to elevate flavor
For the Lemon Garlic Yogurt Sauce
  • 1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt or dairy-free yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice freshly squeezed
For Toppings and Assembly
  • 1 cup Chopped Tomatoes any ripe variety
  • 1 cup Sliced Cucumber English recommended
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Parsley or cilantro
  • 4 pieces Pita Breads whole wheat or regular

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef, breaking apart with a spoon. Stir in cumin, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil, and salt until smooth.
  5. Warm pita breads in a dry skillet over low heat for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  6. Assemble each pita by filling with cooked beef, chopped tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and parsley.
  7. Drizzle yogurt sauce over the filled pitas and serve warm.
