Ingredients

For the Salad
  • 1 head Romaine Lettuce Chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese Freshly grated or vegan cheese for dairy-free option
  • 1 cup Caesar Dressing Homemade or store-bought
For the Creepy Croutons
  • 2 cups Bread Cubes Day-old sourdough recommended
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Substitute with fresh minced garlic if desired
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can use avocado oil for a different flavor
For Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Black Olives Sliced for decoration
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Parsley Can substitute with other herbs like basil

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Salad bowl
  • cookie cutter

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a mixing bowl, combine bread cubes with olive oil and garlic powder, ensuring they are evenly coated. Spread the cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy, turning halfway through.
  2. While the croutons bake, wash and chop the romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces. In a large salad bowl, mix the lettuce with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. For homemade Caesar dressing, blend garlic, anchovy paste, egg yolks, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and olive oil until smooth. For store-bought dressing, pour over the lettuce mixture and toss gently to combine.
  4. Once the croutons cool, use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter to cut out fun shapes. Optionally, slice black olives and place them on each crouton for 'creepy eyes.'
  5. Top the salad with ghostly croutons and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately for a delightful Halloween presentation.
