Step-by-Step Instructions for Garlic Knots
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water with active dry yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in sugar, warm milk, softened butter, egg, and salt into the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm area for 1 to 2 hours.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough, divide into 12 pieces, and roll each into a 10-inch rope, tying them into knots.
  6. Cover the shaped knots with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Mix melted butter, olive oil, garlic powder, and parsley in a bowl.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush knots with the garlic topping and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly before serving warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
