  • 2 tablespoons Culinary Lavender dried
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour weighed for precision

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter softened

For the Milk Soak
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
For the Frosting
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese cold
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Purple Food Coloring optional

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch metal baking pan.
  2. Finely grind Earl Grey tea and culinary lavender in a food processor and whisk with flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla bean paste.
  4. Gradually mix in buttermilk, then sift in dry ingredients; mix gently until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 38–44 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Make the milk soak by heating whole milk with additional Earl Grey tea and lavender, then mix with sweetened condensed milk.
  7. For frosting, blend dried lavender, then cream together cream cheese and butter, add powdered sugar and lavender.
  8. Once cooled, poke holes in the cake, pour milk soak over, and frost with cream cheese frosting.
