Pudding Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease an 8-inch square baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Break the stale bread into 1 to 2-inch chunks and place evenly in the baking dish.
- Melt the remaining butter and drizzle it over the bread pieces.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined and frothy.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread pieces, pressing down to soak.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes until golden-brown.
- While baking, prepare the optional brown butter vanilla sauce by melting butter and mixing in brown sugar and cream.
- Serve the warm bread pudding with the optional sauce drizzled on top.
