Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large pot, combine water, sugar, bourbon, fresh orange juice, and cinnamon sticks. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Peel the Bosc pears carefully, ensuring to keep them intact. Using a corer, remove the core from the bottom of each pear.
- Gently add the pears to the simmering syrup to prevent browning. Their surface should glisten under the syrup.
- Reduce heat to low, allowing the pears to poach for 25-30 minutes. Rotate the pears every 5-10 minutes for even cooking.
- Test for doneness by gently piercing with a knife. The knife should slide in easily.
- Once tender, carefully remove the pears from the syrup and place on a plate to cool. Discard the cinnamon sticks.
- Return the remaining syrup to heat and continue simmering for an additional 15-30 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Drizzle the thickened syrup over the cooled pears and serve warm or chilled.

Notes
Keep poached pears submerged in syrup to maintain moisture. Can serve with vegan yogurt or granola for added flavor.
