Step-by-Step Instructions for Coffee Brownies
  1. Prepare Coffee Reduction by boiling 1 cup of brewed coffee until reduced to 2 tablespoons.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare an 8-inch or 9-inch square baking pan.
  3. Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter and 6 ounces of chopped semi-sweet chocolate over medium heat until smooth.
  4. Mix in 1 cup of light brown sugar and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Add eggs one at a time and combine well.
  5. Fold in concentrated coffee reduction, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, and a pinch of salt until just combined.
  6. Pour brownie batter into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  7. Prepare frosting by melting 4 ounces of unsweetened baking chocolate and 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, then stir in ingredients.
  8. Frost cooled brownies with the mocha frosting and let set for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
