  • 200 g dried pasta Whole wheat or gluten-free options can be used.
For the Sauce
  • 1 onion (chopped) Yellow or white onions work well.
  • 1 clove garlic (minced) Fresh garlic is preferred.
  • 1 tsp honey Maple syrup can be used for a vegan alternative.
  • 200 ml cooking cream Plant-based cream or Greek yogurt can lower calories.
  • 150 g tuna in its juice Opt for tuna in water for a lighter version.
  • 125 g cherry tomatoes Any ripe tomatoes can be substituted.
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste Tomato puree can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 ladle pasta water Reserve from cooking pasta.
  • 1 pinch salt & pepper Essential seasonings.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions, around 10-12 minutes until al dente. Reserve 1 ladle of pasta water and drain the pasta.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic in a skillet with olive oil for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add cherry tomatoes and tomato paste, cook for 2-3 minutes until tomatoes soften, then deglaze with honey.
  4. Pour in cooking cream and reserved pasta water, stir and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Fold in drained tuna, season with salt and pepper, and heat through for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Combine drained pasta with the sauce, toss gently and serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
