Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat for 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Sauté finely chopped onion in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Season with salt, pepper, and a dash of garlic powder.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
  5. Spread the cooked beef and sautéed onion mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  6. Layer remaining potato slices over beef. Mix milk and melted butter, then pour over the casserole.
  7. Sprinkle cheese generously on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is browned.
  9. Check if potatoes are tender, then let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
