Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cook the pasta by bringing a pot of salted water to a boil, add penne pasta, and cook until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Drain, reserving 1 cup of water.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes until onion is translucent.
  3. Add ground beef to skillet, break it up, and cook on medium-high heat for about 7 minutes until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Lower heat to medium and stir in heavy cream, then gradually add reserved pasta water until desired sauce consistency is reached. Mix in Parmesan cheese until melted.
  5. Add drained pasta to the sauce and toss until combined and coated.
  6. Serve with extra Parmesan or parsley if desired.
