Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, water or apple juice, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir over medium heat until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Add sliced apples and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour the warm apple mixture into the prepared baking pan, spreading evenly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, white sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
- Spread the biscuit batter evenly over the apple filling and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
- Bake for 38-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cobbler to cool for 15 minutes before serving warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.
