Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a microwave-safe bowl or saucepan and let it cool slightly.
  3. Combine the melted butter, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, sift together 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in 1 cup chopped pecans.
  6. Spread the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing into squares.
