Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook 1 pound of lean ground beef with 1 finely diced onion until browned. Drain excess grease, then stir in 3 minced garlic cloves and seasonings. Add in one can of cream soup and ½ cup of milk.
- Slice potatoes into thin rounds, approximately 1/8 inch thick.
- Layer the bottom of the baking dish with a portion of sliced potatoes, half of the beef mixture, and sprinkle a generous amount of cheese. Repeat layers, ending with a layer of potatoes and cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 60 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Allow to cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
